Douglas Weathersby Artist Talk

I wish I were in Louisiana to go to this talk, but for all of you who are still in Atlanta and want to make the trek, here’s the info:

Douglas Weathersby: Artist Talk
“The Human Nest Project”
   Thursday, September 24, 6:30 p.m.
Reception and Project Viewing to follow

Free and open to the public
Boston-based conceptual artist Douglas Weathersby is the Masur Museum of Art’s first Artist in Residence.  Weathersby owns and operates EnvironMENTAL SerVICES (ES), a cleaning and home repair company that blurs the lines between art and everyday life.  His practical work becomes performances, which are captured through photography and video.  Weathersby brings an artist’s eye to these everyday tasks, such as creating sculptural installations with dust or ethereal videos from falling paint scrapings.

During the month of September, Weathersby is working with JDE Construction to renovate the Carriage House and turn the space back into an apartment for visiting artists.  Weathersby is documenting his interaction/construction in the space and producing a body of work based upon his time at the museum.
