Greetings from Utah

Hey Guys,

I just thought I would pass along some installation shots of the solo exhibition I ended up having in Savannah in conjunction with the Carrie Mae Weems project.  Special thanks to Sharma who did all of the printing for me. Check them out here.

Carrie Mae Weems Opening

Hey Everybody,

There is going to be a reception on Tuesday, July 15th from 6-8pm for the Carrie Mae Weems exhibition that was created with the help of SCAD students. I will be in town for it and I hope to see a few familiar faces come to check it out. It will take place at the ACA gallery near the high museum.

Two Openings Tonight

Those of you experiencing the boredom of summer may be inclined to go see some art with friends. If that’s the case for you, then join us for two openings tonight. The first will be at Kiang Gallery, featuring the photography of Lori Waselchuk: “Grace Before Dying: Angola Prison Hospice Project”. The work on their web site looks pretty stunning, imho. As a matter of fact, based on their programming so far, Kiang is looking like a gallery to watch in Atlanta.

The second show we’re heading to is a solo exhibition by our good printmaking buddy, Jay Fox. He will be showing at Genema Gallery, up the road off Peachtree. Let’s go out and show him some support. So here’s the breakdown:

  • Meet at Kiang Gallery – 7pm
  • Head to Genema Gallery – 7:45pm
  • Eat somewhere afterwards

Go to this show

Hey, you all should go to The Opal Gallery on June 20, 6-9 p.m. for the opening of Carl Martin: 1986-2007. Carl taught me color photography sometime in the last century at a lil ol school on up the road a ways. He appears to have maintained his handle on the vernacular Southern image. He’s also a bang up portraitist and an all around good guy.

I’ll be bringing a camera if somebody would like to help with a video interview for Art Relish.

PhotoAwesome (likes) WhoIsCarla

From what felt like a frenzied weekend of parties and cookouts, I found some time to shoot at Jason Kofke’s “Everything Will Be OK” at Arthouse and PhotoAwesome at Blue Tower. It’s not a bunch of photos but enough to laugh. Beware, I’m all over the pictures. Yes… Check them out before everyone graduates. Who’s gonna do the PhotoAwesome upkeep now?
