PhotoAwesome (likes) WhoIsCarla

From what felt like a frenzied weekend of parties and cookouts, I found some time to shoot at Jason Kofke’s “Everything Will Be OK” at Arthouse and PhotoAwesome at Blue Tower. It’s not a bunch of photos but enough to laugh. Beware, I’m all over the pictures. Yes… Check them out before everyone graduates. Who’s gonna do the PhotoAwesome upkeep now?

Friday Night Gallery Walk

Per Rebecca’s suggestion, we will be meeting at the 5th Floor (building C) computer lab tonight at 7:30pm to head to several openings, including those at Castleberry Hill. It is strongly suggested that new students ride with (or at least follow) old students.

Dinner to follow.

Schedule for Tonight

We’re meeting at the school at 7:00pm, and will head to Saltworks from there. After that, we’ll go to Eyedrum for Travis’ show, and then probably grab a bite to eat afterward. If you need a ride, be at the school on time. Consult the gallery map if you need directions and plan to meet us at either location.

Tonight: Castleberry Hill & Films at the High

If anyone still in town is looking for a Friday night activity, Stacy, Eric and I will be at Castleberry Hill around 8pm tonight for the openings. Afterwards we’ll head to eat as usual, but Denise just alerted me about something at the High tonight, which I believe I might be part of as well:

I would like to invite you tonight to the High Museum. It will be a films projection until 2 in the morning. The films start at 11pm ( I will be at 10PM) and Audrey Ward and I have films. I know more SCAD students too. So please if you can come to support us.

I’m in… anyone else?

For those of you still in town, we’re going to Jackson Fine Art’s opening of Joel Meyerowitz’s old and new(ish) work. We are meeting at Jackson around 7pm (the opening is from 6-8pm). We cannot meet at the school because it will be closed by that time.

Friday Night Openings

Tonight, we meet at the school, 5th floor computer lab, at 6:30pm. Here is the tentative schedule for the evening:

  • Jackson Fine Art - Sam Taylor-Wood & David Hilliard. Could there be a better photography show in Atlanta for ACP??
  • Mason Murer Fine Art - “That 70s Atlanta Show”. Keep in mind this is NOT the buckhead location.
  • Bill Lowe Gallery - “Photo-based” paintings? Really? Whatever… we’ll go there last.

And just in case you’ve never been to these places or you just need a visual, here’s our route map for the evening. If, for some reason, you are going to be late, please call me (Walker) at (512) 576-7460 and I will tell you where we are for sure.

New Friday Plans

6pm: Meet at SCAD-Atlanta Parking Garage. Leave within a few minutes after 6.

First we’re going tto TEW Galleries, where it has been confirmed that Whitney Stansell is showing work tonight. Her opening is from 6-9pm, which is why we’re going there first.

Second, we can head straight to APG for the Push Pin Show. Make sure you have cash for putting up work. The doors open at 7:30pm and it’s first come first serve, so we should try to be as early as possible to this. Rebecca and Valentina are going up there between 6:30 and 7pm to get in line. I’m sure they will be able to gauge the line for us.

Following APG we can either go to Fay Gold Gallery (however, the opening ends at 8pm for some odd reason) or go straight to eat. We are doing something besides Mexican food tonight. Also, El Azteca has been making me sick lately… literally.
