Fresh Blood at Mason Murer

The opening for this show of “underecognized Atlantan artists” is Friday, April 6th, 2007 from (tentatively) 7-10pm at Mason Murer Gallery. (I’ll call the gallery to confirm those times.) My work is in the show along with Pam Rogers, Yana Dimitrova and Meg Aubrey (all of whom are painting MFAs at SCAD-Atlanta). (I like parentheses.)
All four of us have multiple pieces in the show, and even if you don’t like our stuff, there’s PLENTY more to see. Seriously, this place is friggin’ huge.

Benny Andrews Exhibition: “Works on Paper”
Reception for Benny Andrews Exhibition
Thursday, March 1, 2007, 6-8pm
Trois Gallery, 1600 Peachtree St., Atlanta, Georgia
The exhibition features drawings by the late Andrews, a noted black artist whose work included collage, painting, sculpture, prints, writing and book illustrations. Andrews’ strong relationship to the human spirit is thoughtfully portrayed in this group of drawings; each describing a unique juxtaposition of sensitivity and strength, and finding a relationship with the viewer. Andrews’ works on paper remain a fascinating part of his dynamic oeuvre and showcase his illustrative brilliance.

Eyedrum Opening: Tomer Duwek
I have a couple of announcements today, so I’m posting them both at the same time.
The first is an update on our evening out on Saturday night, January 6. Unless you guys object, Steve has suggested an opening at Eyedrum. The artist is Tomer Duwek and the show is called The Holy Pin. It will be in “the small gallery”, as they put it on their web site and the opening begins at 6pm.
Duwek’s large scale luminescent images are collected via a pinhole camera left out overnight for 8-10 hours. The negatives are scanned and subtly enhanced by computer, then printed on canvas and stretched onto frames.
We should meet between 5:15-5:30pm and plan to depart no later than 5:35pm from SCAD-Atlanta. We’ll meet at the lower level of the parking garage, as usual. After the opening we can all grab a bite to eat and catch up. Come with restaurant ideas.
