Friday, Feb. 15, 6 p.m. SCAD-Atlanta Join artist Carrie Mae Weems, Spring 2008 SCAD-Atlanta distinguished faculty member, for a lecture. Considered one of the most influential contemporary American artists, Weems has investigated yearning, loss, cultural identity and the visual consequences of power throughout her world-renowned career. Her lecture will give an overview of her practice and introduce ideas and concepts that will be explored in her course and upcoming exhibition at the ACA Gallery of SCAD. West End gallery crawl Saturday, Feb. 16, 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m. SCAD-Atlanta
Hosted by the ACA Community Education Program of SCAD, gallery crawls begin with a brief orientation before setting off to explore some of Atlanta’s most exciting galleries. Join this tour showcasing the best of West End galleries and museums including Clark Atlanta University Galleries, Spelman College Museum of Fine Art, and Hammonds House Museum. Groups assemble in the main lobby at SCAD-Atlanta. Lunch is not included in the registration fee. Registration fee is $65 per gallery crawl, $50 for two or more registrants or two or more crawls.
