Medium Format Camera Question
Hello everyone! Long time no see…
I’ve been working A LOT this quarter and I’ve missed the Friday outings.
Anyway, I am considering purchasing a medium format camera for next quarter and I would like to know what you use and why you like it.
Thanks in advance
Danielle

Seems most people like Haselblads, if you don’t want the square format maybe a Mamyia or a Contax.
Agreed, Dave.
Can’t beat that Hasselblad 80mm glass.
Depends on what you want to use the camera for and how much you want to spend. I like the Hassy’s for the great lenses, the square format and because I can hand hold it. But I also have a Bronica (no longer made
) this is a 6×45, easy to use. Let me know what you want to shoot and I can offer more suggestions.
Judith,
I am currently interested in:
Portraiture/Documentary/Event photography
Night photography
Architecture
Urban Landscapes
Does that narrow it down…
Thanks in Advance!
Danielle
Hello,
You don’t know me, I’m a SCAD Savannah alum, and I keep an eye on your blog… which is great, my students are in the process of starting something similar… anyways… I recently wanted to put a very transportable rig together for airplane travel… I have a Canon 5D with a nice L lens, but it is heavy… and I wanted high resolution, so medium format was the choice… I’ve had all kinds of medium format in the past and it depends on what you shoot and how you wish to use the gear… the hasselblad route is very rewarding, if your wallet is up for the exercise… but for my travel rig it was still to clunky…
I did quite a bit of research and found this site: http://www.certo6.com/
These little folding medium format cameras are quite nice, I got an agfa isolette for $200 fully cleaned, lubed, and adjusted by this guy… it’s an awesome deal to get into medium format… it might be worth checking into… maybe it is what you are looking for…
Hey…
You probably don’t know me either.. but I am in the Grad program in Atlanta, and I have a Bronica SQ system for sale.
Its in terrific shape… I just don’t shoot film anymore.
I have:
body
waist level finder
120 back
polaroid back
80mm f4
150mm f4
40mm f4
If you are interested in looking at it, send me an email.
Thanks for the info everyone!
I am interested in portraiture, event, architecture, city landscapes, and night photography.
Hopefully this will help with the suggestions!
