I read Sons of Mississippi recently - a tale of race and its legacy. A image in Life magazine became an icon of its era (taken by Charles Moore). It depicts seven white Mississippi lawmen gathered to stop James Meredith from integrating the University of Mississippi. One of them is carrying a billy club. Your excellent photographs (especially the black and white) take me back in time to 1962, the date the image was made.
