So You Wanna’ Teach?
Well if you’re in the MFA program, there’s a pretty good chance you’re interested in teaching. And if you want to teach at the university level, you should be going to CAA’s (College Art Association) 95th Annual Conference in NYC, February 14-17, 2007 Why go? Here’s how it works:
Every year at the Conference, there is a Career Fair where MFA candidates who are approaching graduation (read: they are in their last year) and those individuals who have already attained an MFA go to network and interview for the (VERY very few) positions that are currently open throughout the country. Thing is, apparently it’s a good idea to go the year before and see how it all works, as to be better prepared when it’s your turn for real. And did I mention it’s in New York? That doesn’t exactly suck.
So I’m putting this out there now: who is going? We need to start making some commitments so we can double/triple/quadruple up on hotel rooms and/or find alternate places to stay, not to mention find a way there.
If you’re still not sure how big this is, talk to Steve. If you are ready to commit to attending or are at least contemplating it, leave a comment below and let’s get the ball rolling.

I’m going. I’ll only be there Friday and Saturday (there’s this little thing called “Valentine’s Day” on the first day of the conference and I can’t leave my sweetie alone). I’m staying with a friend in Connecticut and will be taking the train into the city.
It would be great to get together Friday and/or Saturday night and go see some shows/do some NYC stuff!
